Whitsbury Manor Stud is delighted to announce that HAVANA GREY has been awarded the British EBF Barleythorpe Stud Silver Cup, presented to the leading British-based stallion by winners-to-runners strike rate.

The son of Havana Gold out of the Dark Angel mare Blanc De Chine enjoyed another outstanding season in 2025, siring an exceptional 15 black-type two-year-olds and recording an outstanding 52% winners-to-runners strike rate.

Among his leading performers last season was Elite Status, winner of the Gr.3 Hackwood Stakes, who joined the Whitsbury Manor Stud stallion roster for 2026. Havana Anna followed Listed success with a narrow second in the Gr.1 Cheveley Park Stakes, while Rumstar completed a Gr.3 double in the Palace House Stakes and Coral Charge. Symbol Of Honour also added to Havana Grey’s growing record at the highest level with victory in the Gr.2 Sandy Lane Stakes.

Ed Harper of Whitsbury Manor Stud said: “We are delighted that Havana Grey has been awarded the Barleythorpe Cup for the best winning strike rate. For Havana Grey to be able to achieve this without yet having any runners from his elevated stud fees is quite remarkable. We would like to thank all the breeders that have supported him.”
