The five furlong juvenile contest proved to be a landmark success for Whitsbury’s flagship stallion Havana Grey, who sired both the winner and the runner-up. Trained by Clive Cox and partnered by Rossa Ryan, Orthodox produced a breathtaking display of speed to power home in record-breaking fashion, setting a new track record in the process. Stablemate El Floridita ran a tremendous race to complete a remarkable one-two for the stud and further underline the exceptional quality of Havana Grey’s progeny. Both colts were bred and sold by the team at Whitsbury Manor Stud.

The result reinforced Havana Grey’s position as one of Europe’s elite top sire. Having already established himself as one of the most influential young sires in Britain, producing the first two home in one of Royal Ascot’s premier juvenile contests represents another significant milestone in his rapidly growing record.

The Showcasing Broodmare Influence

The Norfolk Stakes also highlighted the outstanding contribution of Showcasing as a broodmare sire.

Remarkably, both Orthodox, the race winner, and the third-placed finisher were produced from daughters of Showcasing, underlining the continued influence of the Whitsbury stalwart through the maternal line.

With Showcasing’s daughters already responsible for numerous high-class performers, Royal Ascot provided further evidence that his legacy is extending beyond his own runners and into the next generation.
